Charity Clothes Swap

Radisson Blu Edinburgh joins nationwide charity clothes swap to help The World Childhood Foundation

Saturday 10th September from 10am

All Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels across the UK are joining forces to host a nationwide clothes swap.   Hotel staff and members of the public will come together to exchange valued – but no longer worn – clothing, shoes and accessories for ‘new to you’ items.  Proceeds from the event will be split between Rezidor’s corporate charity, the World Childhood Foundation, and a charity chosen by each of the 32 participating hotels.

For a £5 charity donation, participants can revamp their wardrobe for the new season by bringing up to ten items of good quality, clean, clothes, shoes or accessories and swapping them for new finds.  Any surplus items that are donated will be given direct to local charity shops.

Rezidor’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its hotels is one of the strongest in the hospitality industry.  The company’s Responsible Business Programme has been in place since 2001, and serves to embed environmental and social responsibility into the operations and culture of its hotels.

People throw away over 900,000 tonnes of clothing every year in the UK alone – much of which ends up in landfills.  Clothes swap initiatives help reduce the impact on the environment and encourage people to think differently about their clothes, while having fun.

‘The event will be great for swappers, charities and the environment.’ commented Jens Hallman, Regional Responsible Business Co-ordinator for The Rezidor Hotel Group.  ‘September is Responsible Business Action Month for Rezidor.  For the past 7 years we’ve undertaken a variety of fundraising and community activities.  This year we are focussing on a coordinated activity which will unite the UK hotels.”
